My 27 yo daughter is addicted to drugs, has been for more than 10 yrs. To keep the addiction alive, she lives with another addict, a man nearly as old as I am who lost his own family and the rest of his life to alcohol. He, as sin, keeps her separated from everyone; family, friends, sobriety groups, God (altho, he claims to "beleive"). My only prayer for so many years has been that my daughter would surrender to the Lord, as only he can heal her broken spirit.
